a thankful perspective

My prayer this morning, before my feet even hit the ground, was to ask God to gently remind me to be grateful today, to have a thankful heart, and to be mindful of all the ways in which I am blessed. Then, when I popped over to one of my favorite daily reads, the question was asked, "How are you keeping a thankful perspective today?" Apparently, God was listening :)

I prayed for a spirit of gratitude this morning, because I know how easily I can get caught up in the pursuit of more: more cute things for the kids on etsy, more junk from Target, more space in our home, more books to read, more craft supplies, more comments on my blog, more followers, more toys, more, more, more!! Instead, my desire is for a heart that is at peace with where I am in my life and all that I have right now.

Today, I will choose to focus on the blessings: the beautiful sunshine outside my window, a sweet little ballerina, a husband that works so very hard for his family, a little boy that says "Good Morning to you!!" when I get him out of his crib in the mornings, a new book to look forward to reading, a photography class on the horizon, a Valentine's Day outing, a sweet chocolate lab resting on the carpet...........Thank. You. Lord.

Less is really more. Took me awhile to learn that.
