on blogging

So after yesterday's post, I got to thinking about why I have a blog?? I mulled it around today between errands, and realized that for me, it serves multiple purposes. Obviously, it is a place where I can jot down things that I want to remember about our everyday family life.....the little things that seem so important while they are happening, but that will inevitably be forgotten if not recorded in some way. It is also a way for far-away family members to see what is going on in our lives and to see photos of Sienna and Grant as they are growing.
But what I realized yesterday, is that I also want this to be a place where I can share my thoughts on subjects big and small, a place to think out loud.
I enjoy writing and I enjoy learning about myself and about the world, and this is a place where I can combine the two. Those are goals that I can accomplish even if another soul never reads what I write.
My hope though, is that anyone who does happen to read this blog will get to know the "real" me a little better......will catch a glimpse of how I see the world and will maybe even be inspired.
I guess to some, blogs can seem a bit self-indulgent. Why would anyone really care about what is going on in someone else's life or care about someone else's views on certain subject?? But I believe that people do care..... I know that I love to hear other people's perspectives on life and to get a glimpse inside their world. It makes me feel part of something bigger than myself. I love to see how other people live......maybe that is why I buy about 10 interior design magazines each month :)
Anyway, all of this is to say that I have made it a goal for myself to include a little more "meat" in my blog entries. Because, while I think it is definitely important to include the little tidbits on potty training and holiday decorating, I also want to dig a little deeper and tackle subjects that make me grow as a woman, a daughter, a mother, a wife, a friend.......Talk to you soon!!
