the easter post

I truly enjoyed Easter Sunday this year.

There have been years in the past where I felt pressure to make everything just right.....to put together the perfect Easter baskets, to create the perfect memories, to make the most of every single moment, and it usually left me feeling stressed and resentful at the end of the day. This year, we spent a lot more time talking about why we celebrate Easter and a lot less time talking about the Easter bunny :-)

Of course, the kids still woke up Easter morning to a trail of jelly beans leading them to their baskets, but this year, I didn't go overboard with what was inside. Sienna got a purple chocolate bunny (by request), some sidewalk chalk, a jump rope, glitter crayons, Hello Kitty lip gloss rings and a princess kite. Grant got a new pack of markers, a chocolate bunny, Batman toothbrushes (by far his favorite part), a new kite and the movie "Bambi." They were so excited on Sunday morning!! Johnny and I could hear them from our room when they discovered the jelly bean trail, and it made it all so very worth it!

We went to the early service for church, had family over for lunch and our annual Easter egg hunt, went swimming, watched "Bambi" and took naps.....a wonderfully relaxing day.

The thing I most want to remember about this year is asking Grant why we celebrate Easter and hearing him say, "Because that was when Jesus died on the grass." He had heard us talking about Jesus dying on the cross, and I guess he got the words a little confused :-)

my little man

Oh how I love this little boy! He is stubborn and hot-tempered and runs around like a little monkey morning, noon and night, but he is also the sweetest thing you will ever meet, and I am so very happy that he calls me "Mama."

he is rockin' his new hair cut

Things I Want to Remember About this Easter Egg Hunt:
1. How excited he was to fill up his carton with exactly 12 eggs
2. How much he enjoyed sitting with me afterwards and looking through each egg multiple times
3. How he cracked up laughing when he found a pink chocolate bunny inside one of his eggs
4. How much he loved the football and baseball eggs
5. How he lined up with his class when the hunt was over to go to music class, and how he kept looking back to see if I was still there, and then smiling when he saw me and blowing me kisses

mid-week musings

1. I came across this amazing bedroom makeover today and just had to share. I am definitely bookmarking this one for ideas when my Sweet Sienna is ready for a big-girl room (click on the link above so that you can see all the sweet candy details).

2. My iPad is looking much cuter these days thanks to my new handmade cover from The Pleated Poppy......I am in love with this thing!!

3. I've said it before, and I'm saying it again: "I WILL LEARN HOW TO SEW!!!" I actually own a sewing machine, but I have absolutely NO idea what to do with it. However, as soon as I learn, one of the very first things I will be making is one of these:

I mean seriously people, how cute are those little darlings!!! I'm thinking they would be great for Easter baskets, baby gifts, birthday gifts.....LOVE!

4. Recently, we made a few changes around our home...switched a few things around and got rid of our guest room. I now have my very own craft/reading/art room, which I LOVE, but I know there will be a few times throughout the year when a guest room might come in handy. I'm thinking something like this might be nice to have:

Happy Wednesday!!
